In 2024, Ukraine will work to strengthen its defense industry and restore strength.
The war in Ukraine may continue for two more years , and maybe all five. One should not expect a major counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces this year.
This is reported by CNN with reference to American officials familiar with Western intelligence data.
According to the publication, Russia’s war against Ukraine will continue “for a long time,” regardless of who wins the US presidential election in November 2024.
“Estimates vary, but virtually all suggest there will be at least two more years of fighting long enough to survive Biden's first term, according to many sources familiar with the intelligence. Privately, some U.S. and Western officials say fighting could take another five years,” the publication said.
That's why the US wants to send as much aid to Ukraine as possible by January 2025, because they fear that if Trump is re-elected, support may decrease.
An American official, whom the publication does not name, suggested that in 2024 Ukraine will work to strengthen the defense industry and restore strength until 2025.
“This is why the continued support of the West is so important, because this year everything will be done that will determine the future fate of 2025 and, possibly, in subsequent years,” he said.
Another anonymous American military official noted that a new attempt at a great Ukrainian offensive in the south will take place “in at least two years.”
“Both sides are too depleted in terms of troops and equipment to expect big changes in 2024,” he emphasized.
The official also added that the Ukrainians are discussing 2025 as “a more realistic option in terms of what they can create to launch a new offensive.”
Recall that military assistance to Ukraine from the United States of America has been officially suspended. This will continue until the US Congress approves new funding.
