West Ham riot: Fan exclusion for Rapid

West Ham, Rapid

The fan riot in the context of the Europa League duel between West Ham United and Rapid Vienna (2-0) now has an aftermath for both teams.

The UEFA disciplinary body imposed a fine of 60,000 euros on the Hütteldorfer on Thursday. In addition, no green and white fans are allowed to travel to the next away game at Dinamo Zagreb. The guest sector will remain closed.

The Londoners were also sanctioned by the European Football Association and, like the Hütteldorfer, received a fine of 60,000 euros. This sum must be paid within 90 days.

During the guest appearance at the “Hammers” there had been clashes between fans in the stands. Objects had been thrown back and forth between the green and white block and a grandstand filled with West Ham fans.

After the Premier League club's opening goal by Declan Rice (30th), Rapid fans had tried to storm into the neighboring fan block. The police were able to prevent this. There were tumultuous scenes with the law enforcement officers. Three fans were arrested at short notice around the game.
