According to Kirby, due to shell starvation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forced to retreat to the second and third lines of defense.

Because shortage of ammunition, Ukrainian troops in Donbass are forced to retreat to the second and third lines of defense. Therefore, the United States must immediately restore aid.

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby stated this in an interview with ABC News.

“They (the Ukrainian military. – Ed. ) ammunition is running out in the Donbass and they are now retreating to the second and third lines of defense. They need support and they need it now. The Russians continue to try to put pressure in the western direction,” says the White House adviser.

Commenting on the delay in considering the bill to help Ukraine in the US Congress, Kirby emphasized that time is of the essence.

According to him, the supply of weapons to Ukraine does not jeopardize the national security of the United States.

Later on Fox News, Kirby elaborated on why this additional funding was so important.

“Right now, Ukrainian commanders on the battlefield are literally making life and death decisions, whether they're going to shoot or not, they're running out of ammunition,” he said.

Previously, military expert, reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrei Kramarov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front had a critical situation with a shortage of ammunition.

Recall that at the Munich Security Conference, Czech President Petr Pavel said that the Czech Republic had found for Ukraine up to 800,000 shells of standard NATO caliber and Soviet-caliber shells from unknown non-NATO countries.

Last week it became known that the Czech Republic has completed fundraising for 800 thousand shells for Ukraine.
