Weather forecast: “greenhouse boiler” breaks the lid

by alex

The Phobos weather forecast said that July 2021 will be one of the driest in the last 55 years. The portal “Meteovesti” informs about it.

Meteorologists believe that this July could enter the top 5 record holders and be second only to the most unbearable droughts of 1972 and 2010, as well as July 1997 and 2014.

Phobos notes that droughts like this year do not usually occur more than once every eight to ten years.

Meteorologists explained that a huge blocking anticyclone, which is called a “greenhouse boiler”, has been standing over the European regions of Russia for five days. Because of it, the sky remains cloudless, and temperatures set records again.

Usually the “greenhouse pot” goes away after five days, but this time it will last up to 12 days. This only happens in one percent of cases.

In the second half of July, precipitation is expected, but short and mild: in total, about 50 percent of rain will fall out of the norm – 17-22 millimeters.

The Phobos weather forecast had previously warned that on Friday, July 9, temperatures in the metropolitan area could break the 1903 record, when the air in Moscow heated up to plus 33.5 degrees.

On the weekend, July 10 and 11, temperatures in Moscow and the region will exceed the norm by seven to eight degrees. During the day, the city will heat up to plus 29 – 34 degrees.

Meteorologists noted that harmful impurities may appear in the air due to the descending air currents. It is better to spend these days outside the city by the reservoirs.
