The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted rather rudely to the answers of the NATO Secretary General and the EU's chief diplomat.
The Russian Foreign Ministry refused to accept responses regarding “security guarantees” sent by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and EU Chief Diplomat Josep Borrell to a letter of request from the head of this department, Sergei Lavrov.
This is discussed on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry says that they did not apply to the NATO Secretary General and the EU's chief diplomat, and therefore these answers will not be accepted. Also in the Kremlin, such a step is considered as a manifestation of “diplomatic impoliteness and disrespect for them.”
“The message of S.V. Lavrov was addressed to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of 37 states of Europe and North America. And it was especially emphasized in it that we expect a detailed response in a national capacity. But J. Stoltenberg and J. Borrell write to us, to which we do not Such a step can only be described as a manifestation of diplomatic impoliteness and disrespect for our request,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Therefore, we cannot accept a “collective” response, reminiscent of “mutual responsibility.” We are waiting for a detailed reaction to the question we have posed from each addressee,” the Russian Foreign Ministry demands.
Recall that earlier the countries of the European Union received a letter from Russia, which said that to legally provide the Russian Federation with “security guarantees.”
Later, the 27 member states of the European Union sent Russia a collective response to its so-called “security guarantees.” A letter on behalf of the head of the ministries of foreign affairs of the participating countries was handed over to Russia's Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.
