He stressed that six years ago Putin “wanted to shake the foundations of the free world.”

American President Joe Biden in the US Congress began his speech with the words: “We are determined that the will will triumph over tyranny.”

“Six years ago, President Putin wanted to shake the foundations of the free world. He thought that the world would bend to his goals. But he miscalculated. He thought he would take over Ukraine and the world would come to terms with it. But he met something he never hoped for: this is the Ukrainian people. Teachers, pensioners are turning into soldiers to protect their fatherland,” the head of the White House said.

Biden especially drew attention to the courage of Vladimir Zelensky, who became an example for politicians in the world. He quoted the words from Zelensky's speech: “We will defeat this darkness,” referring to the aggression of the Russian Federation.

Takod, he congratulated Oksana Markarova, who was present in the hall next to First Lady Jill Biden, Madam Ambassador of Ukraine to the States.
