Scientists at the University of Utah conducted a study aimed at finding out the effect of nature videos on people's mental health.
This is reported in the edition of Ecopsychology. So, according to the findings of the scientific work, just a few minutes of watching videos with the natural environment, or listening to the sounds of nature, can reduce stress levels. Experts conducted their research in prisons, because often for prisoners watching the relevant videos is the only way to see nature.
As a result, it was found that images of nature or the reproduction of sounds from the natural environment reduce the physiological signs of stress in prisoners. It also stimulates their interest in learning more details about the places they have seen.
“ The findings from this study also help us understand how providing images of nature or nature can be beneficial for other populations devoid of nature ,” shared Nalini Nadkarni of the School of Biological Sciences.
