The United States is actively working to resume military negotiations.
The White House has taken the initiative to try to resume military negotiations between the United States of America and China in order to reduce tensions between countries.
This was announced by the coordinator of the National Security Council in the White House, John Kirby, reports Reuters.
According to him, US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping allegedly came to such agreement during a meeting in November. Currently, Kirby says, Washington is actively working to resume military negotiations with Beijing to “reduce miscalculations and misunderstandings.”
A White House spokesman notes that negotiations have not yet begun because China has not yet appointed a new defense secretary to replace former General Li Shangfu, who was fired in October.
“My understanding is that part of this may be due to the fact that they do not have a defense minister. We certainly encourage them to appoint someone soon, and we are keen to get those communications going “, the White House said in a statement.
Recall that the other day China accused the United States of a serious violation of sovereignty. This happened after the US Navy destroyer Gabriel Giffords appeared near the shoal Second Thomas, an underwater reef in the South China Sea.
