The fire has disabled key Warsaw metro infrastructure – the first line has been stopped, and the city is in traffic jams.
An emergency occurred in Warsaw: on the night of July 1, a fire broke out at the Raclawicka metro station.
This is written about in Poland.
According to metro spokesperson Anna Barton, an electrical substation caught fire, which resulted in the failure of traffic control systems on the first metro line.
As a result of the incident, the first line of the underground has been completely shut down. Temporary bus and tram routes have been introduced for passengers. Repairs to the damaged systems are ongoing, but the timeframe for restoring normal operation has not yet been announced.
Sixteen fire engines and 45 rescuers arrived at the scene. In response to the emergency, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski convened a crisis team at the City Safety Centre.
The second metro line operates, but with restrictions – trains run at intervals of 6 minutes.
Let us recall that the Polish prosecutor's office brought charges against two Ukrainian citizens in connection with the large-scale fire in the Marywilska 44 shopping center in Warsaw, which occurred in May 2024. The investigation concluded that the fire was the result of deliberate arson organized by Russian special services.
The investigation established that at least an eight-member group was involved in the sabotage act, some of which operated outside of Poland, in particular in Russia and Lithuania.
Among the accused are two Ukrainians. One of them, Daniil B., according to the investigation, had the task of recording the fire and the work of the rescuers on video, and then transferring the materials to the Russian Federation for further use in information campaigns. The other, Alexander St., allegedly coordinated this process. Both are suspected of acting on orders from Russian special services.
