Yerevan revealed the military losses of the Armenian side during the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Sputnik Armenia reports this.
The officially confirmed death toll of servicemen from the first day of the fighting until the evening of November 17 was 2425, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said. “I'm actually talking about the bodies of dead servicemen who have passed a forensic medical examination,” he said.
250 bodies remain unidentified. The names of about 1,600 dead have been made public.
Azerbaijan did not officially disclose its military losses.
In late October, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the total death toll in the conflict was approaching five thousand.
Fighting in Karabakh broke out on 27 September. Armenia and Azerbaijan, which have been arguing over this territory for 30 years, accused each other of provocations. During the armed clashes, Baku took control of a number of settlements.
On November 9, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint ceasefire statement, according to which the belligerents remain in their positions, and by December 1, three more regions are transferred under Baku's control.
