Russia "did not achieve success on the battlefield, but it achieved success on the diplomatic field" in the world, Zelensky said.
Russia managed to achieve diplomatic “success” in the Middle East and spark a war there so that the world’s attention is divided into two front – Israel and Ukraine.
Head of State Vladimir Zelensky said this during the final press conference on Tuesday, December 19.
According to him, the war in the Middle East is having influence on aid to Ukraine.
“The war in the Middle East, like any tragedy and challenge today in Europe or on this or that continent, behind which there is the presence or one or another influence of the Russian Federation, has an impact on assistance to Ukraine. The Middle East is no exception and this fact. And the lack of focus of attention is the lack of focus of the world's assistance, the lack of focus of consolidation around Ukraine, the lack of focus of support for Ukraine on various international platforms, the lack of focus of the topic of Ukraine in the information space abroad… All this is complex and has a very bad effect on the stability of Ukraine, our assistance… We know that this is a tragedy and a challenge “We must understand that we have a full-scale war and a tragedy in the Middle East. My condolences to absolutely everyone who died in this tragedy. But Russia achieved success. And we must admit it,” he said.
He emphasized that this is “serious work” by Russian diplomats.
“They did not achieve success on the battlefield, but they achieved success on the diplomatic field. The fact that they achieved success on this track is a fact. Some states began to hesitate. Some states began to balance, who should win first to help – Israel or Ukraine. For sure. Ukraine, because a full-scale war, someone else says that Ukraine is already on its feet, we have been helping them for the second year in a row, and Israel now has such a serious challenge, these were the voices at the beginning this tragedy,” he noted.
