The sandstorm allowed the radicals to regroup and increase their forces.
From July 22 to 27, 2024, Wagner PPK fighters, together with FAM forces, fought against the Coordination Movement of Azawad (CMA) and “Al-Qaeda in the Sahel” (JNIM) in the Tin-Zoutin area, but a sandstorm allowed the radicals to regroup and increase their numbers to 1,000 people.
This is stated in the official statement of the Russian war criminals, published on social networks.
It claims that this forced the “Wagnerites” to overthrow additional forces into the combat zone. On July 25, another attack was repelled, but subsequently the number of attacks increased, including those using heavy weapons, UAVs and suicide vehicles, which led to new losses.
“The onset of a sandstorm gave the radicals the opportunity to regroup and increase their numbers to 1,000 people. In connection with this, the command of the PIK Wagner decided to transfer additional forces to the combat zone to assist the 13th assault detachment,” the mercenaries claim.
The last radiogram from July 27 reported that only three fighters remained, continuing the fight. The report also noted that the commander of the 13th assault detachment, Sergei “Prud” Shevchenko, was killed.
Recall that Wagner commander Anton Elizarov (Lotus), who previously led the offensive on Soledar and Bakhmut during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, was killed in Mali.
