The head of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe spoke about whether skiers need PR during the competition. Her words are available on the Match TV website.
Vyalbe opposed the sportsmen's PR ahead of time. “Nobody wants bloated scandals. It is my deep conviction that medals love silence, ”the specialist shared.
A similar opinion was expressed by the President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov, who also attended the press conference. “I myself am a non-public person, no extra PR is needed. And our athletes are not eager to be on TV. Of course, it will be when there is a result, ”he said. Maygurov noted that communication with journalists is necessary, but everything should be in moderation.
On December 15, Vyalbe spoke about the huge problem of the Russian national cross-country skiing team. She noted that there are no training bases in the high and middle mountains in the country. In her opinion, this will negatively affect the preparation of skiers for the 2026 Olympics, which will be held in Italy.
