The Polish government called for an ultimatum to be given to Ukraine.
The head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh, said that Ukraine will not join to the European Union until the “Volyn issue” is resolved.

The minister said that “Poland supports Ukraine as much as possible.”
However, he added, “not everything is perfect” in the countries’ relations “due to unresolved historical issues.”
“In his opinion, realpolitik should deliver an ultimatum. Without resolving the Volyn issue, Ukraine will not join the European Union,” the minister said.
In addition, he stated that “the end of the war means only the victory of Ukraine”
“Any other option remains a direct threat of war for Poland. This is where the security of Poland and Europe is at stake,” said Kosiniak-Kamysh.
