Facebook has announced security-related innovations in its proprietary messenger. Voice and video calls in the app are now protected with end-to-end encryption.
As a reminder, Facebook Messenger text messages have been end-to-end encrypted since 2016. Now they have also decided to secure one-to-one voice and video calls. The company noted that the decision to introduce the innovation was made after the increased demand for this method of communication. So, to date, more than 150 million video calls are recorded daily in Messenger.
Among other things, more detailed settings for disappearing messages have appeared in Facebook Messenger. In test mode, the company also gave some users the opportunity to try out the end-to-end encryption option for group chats and calls.
