“VKontakte” explained the presence of a verified page of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the social network

The administration of the VKontakte social network verified the group of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) about ten years ago at the request of the department's press service, the press service of the social network told RBC.

Most likely, the employees who made such a request no longer work in the FSIN, the press service noted.

“Last fall, we received an appeal from the FSIN regarding the transfer of the group. But as a result, the employees did not provide a simple supporting document and stopped responding in dialogue with the support of VKontakte, they explained.

The social network decided to block the page due to “suspicious actions”. “Now we have received a new appeal from the Federal Penitentiary Service and are waiting for the necessary documents,” they said on VKontakte. Earlier, the social network explained the blocking of the community by fears that people who “are no longer representatives of the FSIN could get access to the management of the group.”

The department itself told RBC that they did not register the group on this social network and the blocked page has nothing to do with them.

The blocking of the verified page of the FSIN was previously reported by the Telegram channel Mash. He attached a screenshot of the page on which it was proposed to subscribe for 50 rubles, 100 rubles. or any other amount and in return get access to “exclusive materials, communication with the author and much more.” Later, a message appeared in the group stating that “the community has been blocked due to a possible violation of the site rules.”
