American scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created a protective mask that kills viruses. The Daily Mail reports.
It is noted that, unlike conventional masks and respirators, which only protect against infection, the new agent can kill infection, thanks to a special heating copper mesh.
Researchers, through mathematical modeling, were able to calculate the required temperature range that is required for this process. It turned out that an indicator of 90 degrees Celsius can reduce the concentration of viruses, depending on the size of the protective agent. This temperature is achieved by passing an electric current or a thermoelectric heater through a copper mesh 0.1 mm thick.
In May, therapist Larisa Alekseeva stated that the triple disposable mask provides the best protection against viruses. According to her, if a person wants to further increase his level of protection, he should alternate a reusable mask with a disposable one. Alekseeva also warned citizens against using one disposable mask on an ongoing basis. “If you use only one duty mask, then at some point all the viruses accumulated on it will enter the human body and the owner of this protective equipment will receive a huge load,” she said.
