Most of us, unfortunately, will never be in space. However, we have a chance to find out what it feels like thanks to virtual reality.
This is an immersive TV series Space Explorers: The ISS Experience, which is being created by Felix & Paul Studios. Experts have customized the virtual reality camera to attach it to the Canadarm2 robot. So they get 360-degree images of the outside of the International Space Station.
The camera has nine image sensors, together they can capture a picture in 8K resolution. The camera has been modified to withstand harsh environments, including ultraviolet light, extreme temperatures and micro-impacts. The team attached a camera to a Canadarm2 robotic arm that moves around the outside of the station.
Virtual content from space will be available in the fall / winter for the Rift, Quest and Quest 2 headsets.
