Leading researcher at Moscow State University Lomonosov, molecular biologist, virologist Maxim Skulachev spoke about the features of the new coronavirus wave in Russia, if it arrives.
According to the expert, if there is a surge in the incidence of covid-19 in the country, it will not affect Moscow and St. Petersburg, but will affect other regions of the country.
– According to the dynamics of the incidence rate, it is still impossible to understand whether there is a real new wave of coronavirus or not. The increase in the number of infected may be due to the fact that children went to schools, and students to universities, – explained Skulachev on the air of Sputnik radio.
At the same time, the specialist added that the cool autumn weather now plays a special role, which contributes to the spread of the virus among citizens.
As the website kp.ru previously wrote, with the onset of autumn in Russia, they started talking about the possible start of the fourth wave of coronavirus. According to Andrey Pozdnyakov, chief physician of the Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory “Invitro-Siberia”, the severity of the diseases will not be less than in the summer, but an increase in visits among children is expected, since the school year has begun.
It is assumed that the new wave of covid-19, like all previous ones, will last two to three months. However, with regard to the lockdown, the possibility of its introduction is extremely small.
The head physician of the hospital in Kommunarka Denis Protsenko assessed the likelihood of a new wave of coronavirus incidence. He noted that the number of cases in Russia may begin to grow in late September – early October.
