Virologist of the Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaleya of the Ministry of Health, Professor Alexander Butenko said that the graph of the incidence of coronavirus in Russia has gone up again.
According to him, the delta strain of coronavirus became the cause of the worsening of the epidemiological situation in the country. The thing is that the rate of spread of infection is largely due to the short incubation period characteristic of this variant of SARS-CoV-2.
– Vaccine developers are already starting to make new combination drugs. They will contain antigens of several dominant genotypes of the virus. They (new vaccines) will have to protect against the totality of all variants of the coronavirus, – said the specialist in an interview with Sputnik radio.
On the eve, Butenko said that a person can become infected with flu and coronavirus infection at the same time. The expert noted that these diseases are not related, and therefore do not give cross-immunity.
