Virgin Galactic has started selling tickets for space flights. This was announced by the press service of the company when publishing financial statements for the second quarter of 2021.
According to the documents, buyers will have three ticket options to choose from: a single seat ticket, a multi-seat package for couples, family and friends, and a full redemption flight. Ticket prices start at $ 450,000.
The press service added that the next space flight on the Unity rocket plane is scheduled for the end of September, it was paid for by the Italian Air Force.
On July 11, Virgin Galactic's founder and British billionaire, Richard Branson, flew on a rocket plane from Virgin Galactic. Along with him were astronauts Sirisha Bundla, Keeleen Bennett and Bette Moses, and the spacecraft itself was flown by pilots Dave McKie and Michael Masucci. They flew to the borders of space, to an altitude of about 86 km. Moses made its maiden flight with Virgin Galactic on February 22, 2019.
After him, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos flew into space on a rocket called New Shepard, which was manufactured by the space company Blue Origin. Together with him, three more passengers flew into space – the billionaire's brother Mark, 82-year-old Wally Funk and 18-year-old Oliver Damen. According to Blue Origin, the ship climbed 107 km above sea level and reached a speed of 3595 km / h. The entire flight took 10 minutes 10 seconds.
