The French Treasury scrutinizes all financial assets, including real estate, yachts and luxury cars, owned by Russians on European sanctions lists related to the war in Ukraine.
This was announced on Monday, February 28, by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Mer, reports Reuters.
“We have the legal authority to seize all these assets,” the French minister told reporters after meeting with President Emmanuel Macron.
The EU has previously imposed a number of measures against Russia as a result of the war against Ukraine, including closing airspace to Russian aircraft, excluding some Russian banks from the SWIFT global financial network, and limiting Moscow's ability to draw on its $630 billion foreign reserves.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with the President of the aggressor country Vladimir Putin, during which he asked the President of the Russian Federation to stop shelling the civilian population and ensure the security of Ukraine's borders.
