The terrorist, shooting people on the streets of Vienna, acted alone. This version is only confirmed by video recordings from the scene, said Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer, reports Reuters.
According to the minister, the attacker had ideally outwitted the de-radicalization program before the attack. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also said that after the attack, people associated with the criminal were detained, they were between 18 and 28 years old. Nehammer pointed out that all those taken into custody have migration roots, some of them are still citizens of other countries.
Earlier, the minister said that the one who organized the attack in Vienna had a criminal record. He also said that the curators of the program had the impression that the attacker was successfully integrating into society.
The shooting in the Austrian capital began on the evening of November 2: the first shots were fired at about 20:00 local time (22:00 Moscow time) at the synagogue in the city center. It was reported that almost simultaneously with this, several more people opened fire in other places. Later it became known that the security forces managed to shoot one of the attackers, while the others were being sought.
According to media reports, the eliminated intruder is a 20-year-old native of Vienna, Curtin S. He has Albanian roots, although his parents are from North Macedonia. He also holds dual Macedonian-Austrian citizenship. It is reported that the young man was known to intelligence: he was one of 90 Austrian Islamists who wanted to go to fight in Syria.
According to the latest data, four people became victims of the attack, 22 people were injured.
