The first carrier rocket, Nuri, was launched from the Naro cosmodrome in South Korea.

“Nuri” is a three-stage rocket (technical name KSLV-II) designed to launch an artificial satellite into Earth's orbit. If the program is successfully completed, the Republic of Korea will enter the elite club of world space states that are capable of independently producing and launching spacecraft into orbit.

Initially, the launch of the rocket was scheduled for today at 16:00 local time, but due to weather conditions it was postponed by one hour. Today's rocket flight is equipped with an imitation blank weighing one and a half tons.

If successful, space program officials and engineers plan to launch a real satellite next year. The cost of the KSLV-II rocket project was $ 1.8 billion. Development has been underway since 2010.
