The global multimedia agency RT Ruptly and the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (RGAKFD) have launched a joint project “100 Significant Events in Russia of the XX-XXI Centuries”. Within the framework of cooperation, specialists will restore and restore archival records and create a vivid collection of videos dedicated to the most important events in the history of the Soviet Union and modern Russia.
“The popularization of audiovisual documents from our collection, I hope, will shed light on some pages of history and draw the right conclusions about certain significant events,” Natalia Kalantarova RT, director of the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, quotes.
The head of Ruptly, Dinara Toktosunova, in turn, expressed the hope that subscribers from all over the world will be able to see archival videos, rare historical newsreels that will help them take a fresh look at the most significant events of our country.
It is noted that the collection will include footage of the Great Patriotic War, the beginning of the history of space exploration in the USSR and the space race, the meeting of Nikita Khrushchev and John F. Kennedy in Vienna in 1961, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan in 1989, the presidential elections in Russia in 2000.
