Vettel stays with Aston Martin's Formula 1 team:

Tensions between the German and his racing team are nonsense, assures team boss Otmar Szafnauer.

Aston Martin's team boss Otmar Szafnauer has wiped away doubts about a further collaboration with Sebastian Vettel. Alleged tensions in the negotiations are “absolutely one hundred percent nonsense,” assured the 57-year-old on the sidelines of the Formula 1 race in Italy. “We don't have a plan B. He doesn't have a plan B,” affirmed Szafnauer.

The fact that the announcement of another commitment by four-time world champion Vettel is dragging on has to do with details in the extensive driver contracts, explained Szafnauer.

Vettel himself had already turned his back on the question of his sporting future in Monza and announced an early answer. “You can ask him and I am sure that he will say that he loves it here,” emphasized Szafnauer, whom Vettel has known for many years in the premier class of motorsport. Since this season he has been driving for the racing team in which Szafnauer is team boss.

Vettel had signed a multi-year contract, Szafnauer confirmed again in Italy. Vettel switched to Aston Martin after retiring from Ferrari. There are options on both sides, explained Szafnauer. Before these would expire, something would also be announced, he said. He expects an announcement in two weeks before the Russian Grand Prix.
