Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen had suffered a setback in qualifying at Silverstone on Friday and couldn't get past second place.
The Dutchman finished second in qualifying, which was held for the first time before the sprint premiere on Friday. 75 thousandths behind series world champion Lewis Hamilton, who again presented himself stronger at his home Grand Prix.
Red Bull apparently missed the second free practice session, which had been canceled for the early qualifying session. The cops were still looking for a vote in qualifying. “I don't know what's going on,” said the World Cup leader on the pit radio. “The car is good, but understeers to the moon,” complained Verstappen.
During practice on Saturday afternoon, Red Bull still has the chance to work on the car's balance. Of course, taking into account the current Parc-ferme rule. “We have to look at ourselves because the car is actually pretty good. But I had so much understeer that I couldn't attack the corners,” said the 23-year-old in the pit lane.
The front tires in particular caused problems. “That was a strange feeling. I don't think it has anything to do with the front wing or the setup,” concluded Verstappen.
In the sprint race, which will be held on Saturday (5.30 p.m.) and the result of which will be the starting grid for the Grand Prix on Sunday, Verstappen wants to fight back. “We have a good car, we just have to solve a few problems. I am confident that we can drive a good race,” said Verstappen.
