Up to 1,000 employees could be affected, said Verdi on Tuesday. The works council bodies had been informed about this. IBM once again did not specifically respond to this. “Our personnel decisions are made in order to provide our customers with the best possible support on their way to the introduction of an open hybrid cloud platform and AI capability,” it said in a statement. “We are also re-investing in our business. We will continue to make significant investments in the education and training of IBMers to better serve the needs of our customers.”
According to earlier Verdi information, IBM intends to cut around 2,300 jobs in Germany. A good 1,200 employees would have accepted a cancellation offer from the group. The group has been cutting jobs in Germany for years and is currently undergoing extensive restructuring.
