Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva took first place in the short program of the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the Russian Olympic Committee.
The athlete became the best in the short program with a score of 90.18 points. The gap from the Japanese figure skater Wakaba Higuchi, who is in second place, was more than 15 points. Thus, Valieva led the Russian national team to the first place in the Olympic team tournament with a score of 36 points.
The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing was held on February 4. The competition will last until February 20.
Domestic athletes perform under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). The tricolor and the national anthem were banned due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
