Sports commentator Vasily Utkin on Twitter responded to the criticism of the Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov against French President Emmanuel Macron.
“I hope Khabib will return. He is a great fighter. I won't cheer for him anymore. From today, ”the journalist wrote.
Earlier on October 30, Nurmagomedov appealed to Muslims, calling Macron a creature. He considered that under the slogan of freedom of speech, the politician offends the feelings of more than one and a half billion Muslim believers. The athlete was supported by some Russian MMA fighters.
Several armed attacks had taken place in France a day earlier. The attacks followed Macron's speech, in which he denounced the “crisis of Islam” and criticized the quality of the integration of visiting Muslims into French society. The reason for the president's speech was the assassination of school teacher Samuel Pati. His head was cut off because he showed his disciples cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
Nurmagomedov is the UFC lightweight champion. On October 24, he defeated American Justin Gage and announced his retirement from the sport.
