The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Sybiga will already contact his Polish counterpart in order to immediately resolve this situation.
The Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow left for the city's airport to clarify the circumstances of the arrest of boxer Alexander Usyk.
This was announced by Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhyi, Radio Liberty reports.
Ukraine “categorically does not accept the attitude towards its citizen and champion demonstrated in the video,” the Foreign Ministry commented on the boxer's detention.
“In addition, Minister Andriy Sybiga will already contact his Polish counterpart in order to immediately resolve this situation. The Minister also instructed the Consul General to express protest and indignation at such an attitude,” the Foreign Ministry reported.
Recall that late in the evening of September 17, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk was arrested at the Krakow airport, as evidenced by the video posted by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and sports Zhan Beleniuk.
Boxer Oleksandr Usyk's wife Ekaterina has already commented on her husband's detention at Krakow airport. According to her, there is no need to worry. “Nothing criminal,” she wrote.
