The administration of US President Joe Biden plans to provide support to the rebels in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, the seizure of a significant part of the territory and the start of a guerrilla war. This is reported by The Washington Post (WP) with reference to a White House official.

Washington wanted to arrange a new Afghanistan for the Russian side in the event of hostilities against Ukraine. The task force, which includes the CIA and other key agencies, is studying the experience of organizing insurgencies during the Afghan war from 1979 to 1989 against the USSR in order to force Russia to incur costs without the direct involvement of American troops.

The group includes a team of lawyers who are looking for ways to help future Ukrainian rebels without violating American and international laws. The administration is confident that direct military intervention by the United States is the risk of an all-out war, which Biden does not want to take for the sake of Ukraine, preferring the tactics of a gray zone.

According to WP, one of the blocks for creating an insurrectionary movement is considered 500 thousand Ukrainians who have undergone some armed training. US planners discussed weapons caches and other logistics tools that could support a powerful “secret network” in the event of a Russian invasion.

Earlier, Eduard Basurin, an official representative of the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), accused the United States of supplying paralysis-causing chemical weapons to Ukraine. According to him, Washington sent Kiev an antidote for botulinum toxin. “In November, the chemical itself was already delivered. It is in 40mm containers and can be used with grenade launchers. The weight is small. It can be thrown off from drones, “Basurin said.
