The United States is starting to run out of money to buy COVID-19 vaccines for other countries as part of the international vaccination campaign of US President Joe Biden. This was reported by Politico, citing sources at the US Agency for International Development, which is part of the Department of State.

To meet the targets in 2022, the agency needs $ 7 billion in funding. At the same time, in 2021, the government allocated only $ 1.6 billion for the campaign.

Biden aims to ship hundreds of millions of doses of vaccines to low- and middle-income countries by mid-2022, according to sources. The funds allocated in 2021 have already been spent or distributed over the coming months. There are no new tranches from the US government to fund the program yet, and the agency is currently consulting with the White House.

Earlier it became known that almost 8.9 billion vaccinations against coronavirus have already been made in the world. Every day in the world, on average, people receive 43.4 million doses of vaccines against coronavirus infection. If this rate continues, then in five months, 75 percent of the world's inhabitants will receive at least one dose of the vaccine.
