The United States and France wanted more clarity from Russia on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on Turkey's role in ending the fighting. This was announced during a briefing for journalists by representatives of the State Department of high rank, reports TASS.

According to them, the heads of the US and French foreign ministries recognized the actions taken by Russia, which led to the ceasefire. However, there are still many questions “requiring clarity from Russia regarding the parameters of this agreement.”

State Department representatives were asked about the topics of talks between Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris. “They talked a lot about Nagorno-Karabakh. As two co-chairs, they share the same opinion as we do – we remain committed to our role as co-chairs in the [peace] process of the Minsk Group, ”US diplomats said.

Earlier, Moscow demanded a solution to the issue of the presence of foreign militants in Nagorno-Karabakh. Russian Foreign Ministry Speaker Maria Zakharova said that all parties that strive for peace should participate in the decision to withdraw them.

The fact that Syrian mercenaries, supported by Turkey, were sent to fight in Nagorno-Karabakh, became known in early October. Armenia stated that four thousand militants are fighting on the side of Azerbaijan. Later it was reported that Turkey had deployed 1.2 thousand special forces to the conflict zone.

On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement suggesting the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10. The parties to the conflict stop at their positions. Azerbaijan will gain control over the territories of Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. Russian peacekeepers entered the region.
