The discrepancies in the actions of individual states and the lack of a unified approach to the fight against coronavirus have made the United States more affected by the pandemic than other countries. This was stated by the chief infectious disease specialist of the United States, Anthony Fauci, quoted by CNN.
Fauci stressed that the pandemic knows no borders between states, and therefore, to combat it, a certain sequence of measures was required. Nevertheless, he said, the United States faced significant differences in the actions of individual states and a lack of a coordinated approach to containing the spread of the virus.
“There were many factors that made the United States, unfortunately for us, the worst-hit country in the world, but I believe that state divergences were the main weakness in our fight against the pandemic,” Fauci said. … The US chief infectious disease specialist stressed that the politicization of antiviral measures, in particular wearing masks, also negatively affected the country's response to the pandemic.
According to the latest data, over 19 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the United States. The country is in first place in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the world.
