The US intelligence community has issued a warning that China, which has been called the “main threat” to America's dominance in space, is developing space weapons.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has released a new report detailing the growth of China's military and commercial activity in Earth orbit. America is concerned that China is increasingly launching satellites into orbit using rockets and is also capable of incapacitating them with lasers. This was called a sign of increasing militarization of outer space.
The report also indicated that China is determined to be the new world leader in space operations, research and more.
Plus, China is almost ready to start building its next space station in orbit. Although this is not a military operation, it demonstrates that the country is ready to become a major force in space.
