A resolution was submitted to the US House of Representatives calling to exclude Turkey from NATO. Tulsi Gabbard, a member of the US House of Representatives, was the author of the initiative, according to the Twitter account of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
“While the North Atlantic Alliance called for a ceasefire … Turkey went against the NATO position, which was expressed in support and assistance to the armed aggression of Azerbaijan,” the text of the resolution says. The document stressed that Ankara provoked an escalation of the conflict around Nagorno-Karabakh, and also sends mercenaries into the war zone, many of whom are associated with the terrorist organizations Islamic State and Al-Qaeda banned in Russia.
At the same time, it is noted that when Canada decided to stop the supply of arms to Turkey, taking into account their use during the fighting, Ankara was outraged and referred to the agreement concluded between the countries of the alliance.
Earlier, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian called on the European Union and NATO to put pressure on Turkey, which, according to him, is sowing instability in the Caucasus. The head of state stressed that Ankara's intervention in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will change the situation in the region, turning Azerbaijan into a springboard on the way to strengthening the geopolitical influence of the Turkish side.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, which broke out over the disputed territories, escalated on September 27, when active hostilities began with the use of artillery, aviation and armored vehicles. Yerevan and Baku decided to ceasefire on humanitarian grounds from 00:00 local time on October 18. The sides later accused each other of shelling and non-compliance with the ceasefire.
