US Senators Democrat Jean Shahin and Republican Rob Portman called on the administration of US President Joe Biden to work closely with the new German government to suspend the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. They wrote about this in an article for the Washington Post.

The report notes that Russia allegedly recently used its excessive energy resources as a weapon, demanding geopolitical concessions from the Moldovan government and refusing to increase gas flows to Europe during the latest supply difficulties.

According to the senators, the American administration should also not call on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree “to any concessions outside the Minsk agreements process.”

In addition, politicians again called for an increase in the supply of weapons to Kiev, including providing the country with “anti-aircraft systems, anti-tank and anti-ship systems, as well as means of electronic warfare.”

Earlier, columnist Eli Lake said that US foreign policy, which President Joe Biden is pursuing towards Russia, does not coincide with the anti-Russian electoral course of the Democrats and negatively affects the internal situation in the state.
