In the first quarter of 2021, the US Army will test the Archer 155mm Swedish self-propelled artillery system, which is designed to combat such an advanced enemy as Russia, writes Breaking Defense.
The publication writes that this howitzer can open fire on enemy positions within 20 seconds after it receives its coordinates. Within two minutes after the first shot, according to Breaking Defense, the weapon can be used five to seven more times, after which it can move half a kilometer from the place where the fire was opened.
The publication assures that even such an adversary as Russia will take several minutes to determine and destroy the position of the corresponding positions of the Archer, which is loaded automatically.
In September, Breaking Defense reported that during a demonstration of the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), an adapted M109 Paladin 155mm howitzer shot down a BQM-167 Skeeter air target mimicking a Russian cruise missile.
