The United States will deploy bombers along Russia's northern borders, at an airbase in Norway (near the city of Trondheim). This was told by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, she is quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We drew attention to the information on the preparations for the deployment of a squadron of American strategic bombers at the Norwegian airbase in the Trondheim area in order to conduct joint exercises with the Norwegian Air Force,” the diplomat said.
She stressed that Moscow regards such a decision in Oslo as “another step towards increasing military activity in the Far North.” Zakharova added that this is happening in close proximity to the Russian borders.
In September 2020, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, spoke about the strengthening of NATO 20 kilometers from the Russian borders. He added that the reports about the aggressive behavior of the Russian Federation, which are spread in the alliance, are false.
