The United States will allocate up to $ 27 million to advance its interests in the world – this is, according to official documents of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), one of the goals of the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) program. This was reported by RT with reference to the agency's grant documents.
Through the program, the United States is helping schools, hospitals, and libraries to showcase the “generosity of the American people.” This, as indicated on the website usaspending.gov (an official US resource that publishes financial statements of government agencies), is done with the aim of popularizing the country's foreign policy objectives and strengthening its national security “by informing and influencing the foreign public.”
It is noted that of the $ 27 million that USAID is ready to allocate in total, at least 30 percent should be directed to those applicants whose activities will affect the countries of the Middle East.
In July this year, it became known that USAID had allocated a grant of $ 20.4 million (1.3 billion rubles) to promote various reforms in Russia.
