The U.S. Supreme Court has partially blocked implementation of an executive order introduced in November 2021 by the administration of President Joe Biden requiring employees of private companies to get vaccinated against the coronavirus or be regularly tested. This was reported on the website of the court.
The rules applied to companies with a hundred or more employees. The vaccinations required for full vaccination had to be done no later than January 4th. However, the Supreme Court ruled that these rules refer to “public health regulation in the broadest sense,” and the relevant department of the US Department of Labor, which prepared the new rules, did not have such authority.
At the same time, the Supreme Court retained the requirement for mandatory vaccination of health care workers.
Earlier, the state of Florida sued US President Joe Biden, NASA and a number of government departments and officials because of decrees on mandatory vaccination of federal officials and employees of government contractors. The Florida administration called the Biden administration's executive orders “illegal.”
