Network equipment supplier Huawei has also been classified as a threat to national security
The US regulatory authority FCC is sticking to its classification of the Chinese telecommunications equipment supplier ZTE as a “security risk”. The agency rejected a request from the company to withdraw this assessment. In July, the FCC classified ZTE and the Chinese network equipment supplier Huawei as a threat to national security. Customers in rural areas will have to remove and replace equipment of the two companies from existing US networks.
In addition, they are no longer allowed to use subsidies from a state fund of 8.5 billion dollars (about 7.2 billion euros) to buy equipment.
