The US armed forces carried out precision strikes on targets in eastern Syria.

This is stated in a statement by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin on the Pentagon website about additional US military strikes in Syria.

The facilities in Syria are being used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran-affiliated groups in response to ongoing attacks on US personnel in Iraq and Syria. The strikes were carried out on targets near the cities of Abu Kamal and Mayadin, respectively.

“U.S. President Joe Biden has no higher priority than the safety of American personnel, and he led today's action to make clear that the United States will protect itself, its personnel and its interests,” the statement said.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that more than 20 US military personnel were injured as a result of drone attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria .

In addition, we previously reported that several weeks before the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, hundreds of militants from the Palestinian Islamist group underwent specialized combat training in Iran .
