US President Donald Trump announced the complete destruction of three strategic targets and threatened Iran with even more powerful strikes in the event of further resistance.
US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the US military has carried out a successful operation against three key Iranian nuclear sites – Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
He stated this in an address to the American nation.
“The American military recently launched massive precision strikes on three key Iranian regime nuclear sites – Fordow, Natan and Esfahan. Everyone has heard these names for years as they built this horribly destructive facility,” Trump said.
He said the aim of the strikes was to completely destroy Iran's uranium enrichment program and end the nuclear threat from what he called “the world's number one state sponsor of terrorism.”
“These objects have been known for many years as part of a terribly destructive project. Today I can tell the world: these strikes were a spectacular military success.
He also said Iran was now “forced to seek peace.”
“Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If it does not, future attacks will be much bigger and much easier,” Trump said.
The American president cited Iranian threats against the United States and Israel, as well as the deaths and injuries of American troops as a result of Iran's actions. He specifically blamed General Qassem Soleimani for numerous deaths.
“I decided a long time ago that I would not allow this to continue – and it will not happen again,” he stressed.
In his address, Trump thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military for their joint actions.
“We worked as a team, as perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we have come a long way toward erasing this terrible threat to Israel. I want to thank the Israeli military for the excellent job they have done,” the US president concluded.
Earlier it was reported that the US military struck three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
