Iranian shelters are stronger than they seem, noted expert Pavel Lakiychuk, summing up the consequences of the US strike.
US Airstrikes May Not Have Damaged Iran: Military Expert Explains How Tehran Survived US Airstrike
Military analyst Pavel Lakiychuk, who heads the security programs at the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI,” reported this on the air of the Espresso TV channel.
He shared a skeptical assessment of the effectiveness of the American airstrike on Iran.
“Frankly speaking, I am not too optimistic about the results. Even when Israeli forces gained air superiority over Iran, I already had my doubts.
According to him, Iranian air defense forces remain weak because they were not oriented toward this type of defense.
“They, like the Israelis, focus on a strategy of intimidation and precision strikes: the Israelis use tactical aviation, the Iranians use ballistic missiles,” the expert explained.
He also drew attention to the serious level of protection of Iranian facilities.
Unlike most European countries, where storage facilities have long been out of use since the 1950s–1970s, in Iran they remain active.
“For example, protected command posts were designed to withstand a 10-kiloton explosion and continue to function even after that. For comparison: 13 tons of explosives are almost a toy compared to a nuclear charge. So I want to believe in the success of the American operation, but there are few grounds for optimism so far,” he said.
Recall that US President Donald Trump confirmed the participation of American forces in strikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also made a statement regarding the US strikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
Earlier, the Pentagon stated that the United States had destroyed Iran's nuclear program and that these strikes were not directed against the country's army or people.
