Most of the US states have chosen to sue Google because of the company's control over the Android app store. This is reported by the Politico edition.
In total, 36 states joined the proceedings – among them Utah, North Carolina, Tennessee, New York, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa and Nebraska – as well as Washington (DC). It is noted that this is the third such lawsuit in connection with Google's alleged violations of antitrust laws.
The US Department of Justice and several supporting states sued Google last year for abuse of search advertising dominance. In a later lawsuit, a group of states led by Texas focused on the company's anti-competitive behavior on the Internet.
In addition, the EU antitrust authorities were interested in Google. They are about to launch a formal investigation into the company's suspiciously lucrative digital advertising business.
