The US authorities are pleased that the “five” managed to agree on a joint statement on the prevention of nuclear war, said the head of the press service of the US State Department Ned Price. TASS reports.
“This is an exceptional case,” Price said during the briefing. According to him, this emphasizes that even in difficult and tense conditions, countries must show restraint, especially in the issue of nuclear weapons.
On January 3, the leaders of the nuclear “five” – Russia, China, the United States, Great Britain and France – spoke out against the arms race and called for everything possible to be done to prevent a nuclear war in the future. Their joint statement was published on the Kremlin website. As representatives of the five states noted, nuclear weapons should serve exclusively defensive purposes and be aimed only at curbing the aggression of all players in the international arena.
