A court in the US state of Pennsylvania dismissed a lawsuit by Donald Trump's headquarters, which demanded to invalidate the ballots submitted by mail. RIA Novosti reports.
The court's decision states that “the plaintiff demands to deprive almost seven million voters of the right to vote, while presenting baseless legal arguments and unsupported charges.” The judge granted the defendants' motion and dismissed the plaintiff's claim without the right to re-file the claim.
Earlier, the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit of the United States also rejected a motion by Trump's supporters, who demanded not to take into account about 9.3 thousand ballots received by mail after voting day when counting votes in Pennsylvania.
Prior to that, a Pennsylvania court upheld a suit by Trump's headquarters about the legality of the votes cast by mail in the presidential election. Trump's staff insisted that Secretary of State Katie Primer had no right to extend the deadline for authenticating mailed ballots from six days after the election to nine. Some of the received ballots were rejected.
On November 7, Democratic candidate Joe Biden, with 290 electoral votes against 270 required, declared himself elected President of the United States. Trump, in turn, said he hopes to regain his leading position in several states through the courts.
