The United States recorded a record daily increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus – more than 99.3 thousand people fell ill. This was reported on the website of the Johns Hopkins University project.
In total, more than 9 million infected have been identified in the United States. India (8.1 million cases) and Brazil (5.5 million cases) are next in the ranking with the highest number of cases of COVID-19 infection. Russia ranks fourth.
Worldwide, according to the university, there are more than 45.5 million cases.
In Russia, over the past day, 18 140 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in 85 regions. Most of them are in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Moscow region. 334 deaths were recorded. During the day, 14,854 people have fully recovered in the country. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 1,618,116 cases of coronavirus have been detected in 85 regions in the country. Over the entire period, 27 990 deaths were recorded, 1 215 414 people recovered.
